Day 2 (4/28)

Got up at 5:15 and broke camp. Hit the trail at 6:30. Wasted about 30 minutes trying to cross this steep canyon, I was off trail which seems to be the theme of this trail. More desert ahead...

Some cross country but fairly easy if I kept a sharp eye out for cairns and the occasional sign.

Still moving on and having a great day. Haven't seen many other hikers today but did talk to Foxtrot, Goosebumps, and Butterfinger.

Where we started keeps getting further away, guess I'm heading in the right direction!

Some road walking today, always nice when I don't have to constantly check my maps. Great desert views all around, and pricklies around every corner.

Getting late, starting to look for a spot to camp. Very windy this afternoon, blowing dust and cow excrement. Already looking forward to being out of the desert. Long day today, may have overdone. Ended up pushing on to the next water cache to try and get out of the wind. Camped with Butterfinger, Foxtrot, and Goosebumps. 28.9 miles, 11 hours hiking.
