I left Silver City about 10 this morning after stopping at CVS for more alcohol wipes. Headed for a picnic area about 6 miles up the road which is supposed to have water faucets.
Walked over 6 miles on pavement today, many friendly cars and cyclists passing by.
My home for the next few days... Picnic area ahead had no water, a local said that the faucets were taken out several years ago.
5 miles of this today, but no traffic so it was a quiet walk.
Then a bunch of this, very slow going with all the loose rocks, and steep! Have not seen any hikers today, it's a lonely road.
A few of these late in the day. Should be near water for the next few days.
After 14 miles of roads, I finally hit a trail. Only hiked a couple more miles before making camp. Felt like a long day. 16 miles, 6:20 hiking.
