The journey begins: 5:30AM flight from Spokane, WA to El Paso, TX via 1 hour layover in Denver. Met another CDT hiker at the Amtrak station named Foxtrot. We chatted for a couple hours while waiting for the train to arrive. Took Amtrak to Lordsburg, NM arriving about 4:30 PM. Very windy and dusty along the way.
20 minute walk to hotel in the heat was a struggle with backpack and suitcase holding first resupply box. Checked in, organized my pack, and went to bed early; tired from traveling all day. 6:30 AM shuttle tomorrow to the trailhead. Feeling excited and anxious to get hiking.
